Frost
Frost refers to the thin layer of ice crystals that forms on surfaces when the temperature drops below the freezing point and moisture in the air undergoes deposition. It typically occurs during clear, calm nights when the ground and nearby objects lose heat through radiation, causing their temperatures to fall below freezing. The moisture in the air then freezes directly onto these colder surfaces, resulting in the formation of delicate ice crystals. Frost can appear as a white or translucent coating on grass, leaves, windows, and other exposed objects. It can be damaging to sensitive plants, as the ice crystals can disrupt the cells and cause injury or death. Frost is often associated with cold, winter weather, but it can also occur during transitional seasons such as spring and autumn when temperatures drop overnight.
