Climate

Climate refers to the long-term patterns and averages of weather in a particular area. It describes the typical weather conditions, seasons, variability, and extreme events over a period of decades to centuries. Climate is influenced by a variety of factors including latitude, topography, proximity to large bodies of water, and ocean currents. It is not the same as weather, which describes the short-term atmospheric conditions such as temperature, precipitation, wind, and humidity at a specific place and time. The study of climate and its variations is known as climatology, and the scientists who study climate are known as climatologists. Understanding climate helps us predict future climate conditions and manage resources, agriculture, and respond to climate change.
