Isobar

An isobar is a line drawn on a weather map to connect points of equal atmospheric pressure. Isobars provide a visual representation of pressure patterns and help meteorologists analyze and forecast weather conditions. The spacing and shape of isobars indicate the strength and location of high-pressure and low-pressure systems, as well as the presence and intensity of pressure gradients. The closer the isobars are to each other, the stronger the pressure gradient and the stronger the winds. Isobars are typically labeled with the pressure value in millibars. By observing the distribution and movement of isobars, meteorologists can identify areas of convergence and divergence, determine wind direction, and anticipate areas of potential weather systems, such as fronts and storms.
