Anemometer

An anemometer is a meteorological instrument used to measure the speed or velocity of wind. There are various types of anemometers, but one of the most common types is the cup anemometer, which consists of three or four small cups attached to a vertical pole. When wind blows, it moves the cups, causing them to rotate. The rate of rotation is then calculated into wind speed. Other types of anemometers include vane anemometers, hot-wire anemometers, and sonic anemometers. The data collected by anemometers is crucial for weather forecasting, research, and applications such as wind energy production.
